Obituary for Sanford Hoffman

Sandy Hoffman passed away from respiratory failure at age 76. Born in San Francisco, he met his wife Beverly McNutt at S.F. State University. For over 25 years he worked as an administrator for the Public Defender’s Office in Martinez until he retired due to a medical disability.

Sandy was known for his sharp mind and sarcastic wit. He loved food, weather and the 1950s, especially the music. His usual “uniform” was shorts and a t-shirt. At home he preferred "tighty whities" while calculating the over/under on any sporting event on TV.

Sandy is preceded in death by his parents Morris and Helen Hoffman, and wife of 30 years Beverly Hoffman. He is survived by his daughters Wendy Hoffman and Laurie Frieders, brother Ken Hoffman, son-in-law Craig Frieders, and twin grandchildren Crofton and Claire.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30am on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Walnut Knolls Park at 1437 Murwood Dr., near the home Sandy resided in for almost 50 years. We will share stories about this true character in every sense of the word. Please wear your most comfortable attire as that is how he would have wanted it. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his honor to: www.undiesforeveryone.org or the charity of your choice.
