Obituary for Lucille Brooks

Lucille Brooks was born to Carl and Ruth Reehling of Indianapolis, Minnesota on June 14, 1922. After Lucille’s sister, Dorothy, was born, the family moved to Los Angeles, then Oakland, and settled in Hayward. After high school Lucille went to UC Berkeley and UCSF to complete her B.S. and R.N. degree.

In April of 1945, Lucille volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army Nursing Corp. She worked amongst wounded and seriously injured veterans and their families. While in this service, she met Navy Pilot Ray Brooks at Crows Landing. Ray and Lucille were married December 4, 1945. They moved to Walnut Creek in 1948. Lucille was a part of the family business, Contra Costa Door Co. Lucille was a member of Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church since 1954, and she served as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She enjoyed many trips with friends to Europe and the Middle East.

Lucille will be missed by her family: Dale and Sandy Brooks, Matt and Sarah, Justin and Erin, and three children, Cindy Brooks, Derek and Dani, and two children, Dawn and fiance Ryan, and Michael.

A memorial service will be held December 2, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charles Swindoll’s ‘Insight for Living Ministries’, P.O. Box 5000, Frisco, TX 75034
