Obituary for Karen Aldridge

Karen Elaine Aldridge was born April 19, 1964 in California to Bernice Elaine Olson and Kirk Guy Ward. She loved growing up in Lafayette. She attended Acalanes High School and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1986 with a BA degree in English. In 1992 she earned a Masters of Fine Art in Photography from The College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland.

Her professional life weaved through documentary films, advertising and freelance writing. Karen loved to write and published many short stories. Karen worked for a number of years at WDC Corp (her father’s real estate development company) as an office manager.

Karen loved making art, singing, dancing, decorating and, of course, writing. One of the highlights of her life was singing with the California Golden Overtones while at UC Berkeley. She met her beloved husband, Paul Michael Aldridge, while in this group. They married April 29, 2000 at Bridge’s Restaurant in Danville, CA.

Karen is survived by her mother, husband, brother Andrew Chilton Ward, and her two sons – Owen Ward and Keegan Michael. A memorial will be held on April 28th at 2pm at the Lafayette Christian Church, 584 Glenside Drive, Lafayette, CA.
