Obituary for Judith Ann Vinci

Judith Ann (Gorman) Vinci, 77 of Walnut Creek, CA, passed away suddenly at home from a heart complication.

Born in 1940 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of James A and Dorothea L (Cunningham) Gorman. She moved with her family to Oakland, California at an early age where she was the Class of 58 valedictorian at Bishop O’Dowd High School and graduated from Holy Names College in 1962.

After college she taught primary school before concentrating on raising her three children. She later worked for many years at World Savings and Loan until retirement. Judi was an avid bridge player, reader, world traveler, and photographer. She was an active member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Concord.

Survivors include her sister Thea (Gorman) Shepard and husband Ken Shepard of Pleasanton, CA; children, Len Vinci, wife Kelleye Bennett-Vinci and granddaughter Adri (Slovick) Frick; Christopher Vinci, wife Patricia (Neppell) Vinci and granddaughter Gianna; Michelle (Vinci) Abrams, husband Andrew, grandson Matthew and granddaughter Mary; nephews Jim Shepard and wife Julia; and Scott Shepard and wife Veronica, grand nephew Vaughn Shepard; and former husband Leonard Vinci.

Visitation will be at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel, Sunday, April 22nd, from 5 to 7pm. Services will be at St Francis of Assisi Church in Concord, CA on Monday, April 23rd, at 10:30am. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Oakland A’s Community Fund.
