Obituary for Azam Ariff

Azam G. H. Ariff, age 90 of Lafayette, California passed away on March 27, 2018. Azam, who was the youngest of three brothers, came to the US in 1950 from India after graduating from the prestigious Doon School in Dehradun, India. Azam studied and received a degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley where he met his beautiful wife Joann. While Azam was an Architect by trade, most people remember his passion for cooking. Azam loved to shop and visit with friends around town and enjoyed wine tasting with his friends and family. Azam was known to cook and bring food to his friends at the bank, the supermarket and the produce stand which brought him so much joy!

Azam is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joann Ariff; along with three children; Raad Ariff of Pleasant Hill; Jenan Ariff Frederick of Denver, CO; and Sher Ariff of Lafayette, two grandchildren, Vincent Ariff, Eddie Ariff; nieces Yasmeen Ariff, Nasreen Ariff and nephew Galub Ariff.

Azam was beloved by many in the Bay Area, his Doon School friends from around the world and most importantly his dear friends and family. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10:00am at Hull’s Chapel on 1139 Saranap Avenue, Walnut Creek.
