Obituary for Alma Isola

Alma Barbara Isola died peacefully on December 12, 2017. Alma was born in Oakland California on August 10, 1916 to Adelaide and Guiseppe Musso the second of two daughters. She completed all her schooling in Oakland and graduated from Oakland Tech High School in 1934. Alma worked as a seamstress for Roos Brothers before she married her loving husband Angelo Isola in 1938. A stay at home mom after her two sons were born, she enjoyed helping at their schools and belonged to many women’s clubs. The family moved to Lafayette in 1959 where she lived up until the last few years. Her final years were spent in Red Bluff near her surviving son Robert.

Alma was a beautiful person through and through and was often described as the “nicest person I’ve ever met”. Alma was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who created a loving home that inspired multiple generations of family. She was a tremendous cook and baker providing the extended family unsurpassed Italian meals and desserts every Sunday and Holiday. While the food was amazing, it was her love for family and friends that inspired and taught us the important things in life.

Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband Angelo “Ally” Isola, her loving son Allan Isola, grandson Vincent Isola, and sister Ada Zavattarro. She is survived by her beloved son Robert Isola (Judy), their sons Craig Isola (Jen) and Andy Isola (Brandy), daughter-in-law Linda Isola, and her children Lisa Bottene (Adriano) and Michael Isola (Melissa). She also had an abiding love for her great- grandchildren Madeline Bottene, Maxwell Bottene, Nicholas Isola, Ava Isola, Christopher Isola, Drew Isola, and Joey Isola.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Hull’s Walnut Creek Chapel (1139 Saranap Ave) on Friday Dec. 22nd at 10:00am. Visitation from 9:00am and burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
